Terms of use

Using ForPet means accepting these terms. They are written to be read: the most important point comes first.

Version 1.0 — in force since 11 August 2026.

This document is legally binding in its French version. This English translation is provided for convenience only; in the event of any discrepancy, the French text prevails.
ForPet is a contributory map, not an official source. The information it presents comes from its users and from public sources. It may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. On site, only the signage and the order in force are authoritative. Check before you go in.

1.Purpose

These terms of use (the “Terms”) govern access to and use of the ForPet service, available at forpet.subalpine.it (the “Service”), published by Jérôme Buisine, sole trader (the “Publisher”), whose details appear in the legal notice.

Accessing the Service means accepting these Terms in full. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.

2.Description of the Service

The Service is a collaborative map listing places by the rule that governs access for dogs: allowed, allowed on a leash, partly restricted or not allowed. It may attach to an entry the reference of a municipal or prefectural order.

The Service is provided free of charge, with no financial consideration of any kind. It is a tool for information and mutual help between users. It is not legal advice, nor permission to enter, nor any guarantee of admission to any place.

3.Nature of the information and absence of warranty

Entries are submitted by users and supplemented with open data. The Publisher does not exhaustively check their accuracy and is not in a position to do so: local regulations are numerous, changeable and rarely published in a usable form.

Accordingly, the Publisher does not warrant:

  • the accuracy, completeness or currency of the information displayed;
  • that an entry conforms to the regulations actually applicable to the place;
  • that an access rule will persist, since it may change at any time, in particular seasonally;
  • the accuracy of a place’s geographic position, nor that of the geocoding and routes offered;
  • the absence of interruption, delay or error in the operation of the Service.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

4.User responsibility

You remain solely responsible for your decisions and your conduct, and for those of the animal in your care. Before and during any visit, it is up to you:

  • to check the signage and the site manager’s instructions on the spot;
  • to comply with the applicable municipal and prefectural orders;
  • to observe the rules on leashes, muzzles and the classification of dogs known as “category 1 and 2” under the French rural and maritime fishing code;
  • to pick up after your dog and not to disturb the peace of the place or its wildlife.

Under article 1243 of the French civil code, the owner of an animal, or whoever is using it while it is in their charge, is liable for the damage the animal has caused. The Publisher is not party to that liability.

5.Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Publisher cannot be held liable for any damage arising from use of the Service or from reliance on the information it presents, in particular:

  • a refusal of entry, an eviction or a wasted journey;
  • a fine, penalty or any other administrative or criminal sanction;
  • damage caused by an animal or suffered by it;
  • indirect loss, or loss of time, opportunity or data.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits the Publisher’s liability in the event of gross negligence or wilful misconduct, of personal injury, or in any other case where the law forbids it.

6.User account

Browsing is open to all. Contributing requires an account, created by entering an email address to which a single-use code is sent. There is no password.

You undertake to provide an email address you own, not to impersonate anyone else, and to keep the codes you receive confidential. You can change your nickname and delete your account at any time from your settings.

7.Contributions

You warrant that your contributions are accurate to the best of your knowledge, that they infringe no third-party rights, and that you hold the rights needed to publish them.

By submitting a contribution, you grant the Publisher a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence for the duration of the rights, allowing it to be reproduced, adapted, translated and distributed as part of the Service and its promotion. The sole purpose of this licence is to let the Service work.

Deleting your account does not delete your contributions: other users rely on them, and removing them would impoverish information the community has confirmed. The link to your account is, however, severed, and the contribution becomes anonymous.

8.Acceptable use

The following are prohibited in particular:

  • submitting knowingly false, misleading or defamatory information;
  • publishing abusive, hateful or discriminatory content, or content that infringes someone else’s privacy;
  • manipulating votes or creating multiple accounts to skew an entry’s reliability;
  • extracting the Service’s data in bulk by automated means, or circumventing the rate limits in place;
  • disrupting the operation of the Service or compromising its security.

9.Moderation

Submitted entries are reviewed before publication. The Publisher may, without notice and without compensation, refuse, correct, unpublish or delete any contribution that breaches these Terms or whose accuracy cannot be established, and suspend or close an account in the event of a breach.

Moderation decisions are given reasons where they concern the rejection of an entry. You can challenge them by writing to contact@subalpine.it.

10.Reporting unlawful content

In respect of contributions, the Publisher acts as a host within the meaning of article 6-I-2 of French law no. 2004-575 of 21 June 2004 on confidence in the digital economy.

Any content believed to be unlawful or inaccurate can be reported from the entry concerned, or by email to contact@subalpine.it giving the address of the page, a description of the content and the grounds for the request. Manifestly unlawful content is removed promptly after notification.

11.Availability of the Service

As the Service is free, the Publisher gives no availability commitment. It may interrupt, change or discontinue it at any time, in particular for maintenance, without this giving rise to any compensation. Where possible, a lasting interruption is announced in advance.

12.Personal data

The processing carried out, its purposes, its retention periods and how to exercise your rights are described in the privacy policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms.

13.Changes to the Terms

These Terms may be changed to reflect developments in the Service or in regulations. The applicable version is the one published on this page, whose effective date appears at the top. Continuing to use the Service after publication means accepting the version in force.

14.Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by French law. In the event of difficulty, please first make contact at contact@subalpine.it in order to seek an amicable solution.

Failing agreement, and on an optional basis, a consumer may turn to a consumer ombudsman or to the European online dispute resolution platform. Failing amicable resolution, the dispute will be brought before the competent French courts. If you are a consumer, you keep the right to bring proceedings in the courts where you live.
